Is there anything like daemon tools for ubuntu?

I am very new to linux I just switched today from windows and I would like to know if there is anything like daemon tools for ubuntu I found this command on a forum to mount ISO files but I don't know what it means can someone give me an example of how this command line would be used? CODE: sudo mount -t iso9660 -O ro /path/to/file.iso /media/mountpoint
